Opis

The monograph briefly presents the history of the activities of organizations associating deaf athletes in the world, Europe and Poland, as well as the chronology of the development of international basketball sports events. Due to the nature of the monograph and its potential recipients, the author presented in detail the situational variables describing various aspects of the basketball game using basic statistical analyses. The presented statistics allowed to organize the individual achievements of the participants of the 4th World Deaf Men’s Basketball Championships, which were played in 2015 in Taoyuan (Chinese Taipei) and the 5th Deaf World Championships in men’s basketball, which took place in 2019 in Lublin (Poland). For each tournament, match statistics were divided into two groups. The first group concerned the statistics of the matches of the winning teams, and the second – the statistics of the losing teams. Additionally, the 2019 Basketball World Cup (of hearing) was analyzed. In total, the analysis presents a comparison of 21 performance indicators during three events of the world championship rank. As already mentioned, each competition was analyzed in terms of the won and lost matches to show what factors resulting from the game determine sports success in both deaf and hearing basketball players. The monograph also presents the rankings of the Deaf International Basketball Federation (DIBF) in 2009, 2013 and 2019 and the changes taking place in these rankings.
